If you are like most people out there including myself, then medical insurance is probably one of those things that you know you need bit, don’t fully understand it. If you are a single dad (father) or any type of single parents then it might help to have a little better understanding of some certain terms because you are not only caring for yourself but also are caring for your family and there is probably not another adult around to help you make some financial choices. All of these decisions will end up on you and that will include what type of insurance to purchase. So we have prepared some terms that can help you along your way to choosing the right medical insurance so you hopefully won’t need to seek some financial help as well.

Now one of the first terms that you have probably heard very often and not know what it meant is HMO. Now this stands for health maintenance organization. Now what HMO’s can provide is employers and persons with a stable fee for their medical services. Everyone whom is included in this package will pay the same amount, regardless of the number of appointments scheduled at the doctor’s office. All of your health related assistances will be from doctors within your HMO.

Another acronym that you may have heard just as much as HMO is PPO. Now what this stands for preferred provider organization. What it means is that there is a group of different providers that have agreed to work with your medical insurance provider under its current terms. If your medical insurance provider works with a PPO then you will need to one of their doctors or there will be a significant increase in the amount of money that you will pay for medical care.

PCP stands for primary care provider. This will be someone that you will go to for the most basic of medical needs. Some insurance companies will require that you declare a PCP that is in their network for doctors. These doctors are usually like overseers and they will refer you to any sort of specialists that you may need after seeing them first.

A deductible is an amount of money that you will have to pay out of your own pocket before your medical insurance will kick in. Now it doesn’t mean that you are going to have to pay all of the deductable before insurance starts to help because there are some programs out there that that will provide some financial help for you to cover the costs without ever using the deductable. For the most part though concerning any sort of major medical situation, the deductable will be the amount that you will need to pay for.

Finally, the last term we will cover is co-pay. This is referred to as the amount that you will have to pay for each doctor’s visit. The amount can be different depending on your insurance company and in some cases it also will go towards your deductable.

In closing, there are many other terms that are used in the medical insurance field but, the terms mentioned in the article above are some of the terms that you will hear most often and impact you directly. Please always do your research about terms if you do not understand their meaning. A little research can be the difference between needing some financial help or financial assistance and not needing any at all.

The internet can be this place that can be so wonderful but, yet so dangerous at the same time. There are many websites out there like this that can help with tips on financial help and financial assistance. There are also sites out there that can have harmful spyware on it and infect and steal your information for identity theft or who know what else. There are so many great places to shop and so many great deals but, at the same time it leaves your credit card information very vulnerable to hackers and other programs. Below are some tips that can help make your online shopping experience safer and can also help you minimize your risk.

One of the most important things and probably one of the most overlooked things is shopping on safe websites. The first way to tell if a website is secure is to check and see if the website address begins with a https: rather than just plain old http:. Also you should see some sort of symbol that your information is being encrypted. It is usually a picture of a lock. If you are on a site with these sorts of safety measures than you can expect is more secure shopping environment.

Make sure to check your computer for viruses and spyware often. There are free programs out there that are worth their weight in gold because of the protection that they can give your computer. These programs will definitely fit in to a single dad (father) or any single parent’s budget very nicely. New viruses and spyware are coming out every day so make sure that once you have a good program that you stay up with all of the updates.

Now this last one may be something that we all do but, it is nice to go over it as a refresher and that is to check your credit card statement every month and make sure that every purchase on your account was made by you. This may be the first warning sign that you can get that something fishy is gung on.

In closing, shopping online can be a risky venture but, you can also minimize your risks and don’t succumb to those usual tricks to steal your information. Anytime you are shopping on the internet your information can be stolen so make sure to choose a credit card that has fraud protection as another level of lowering your risk.

Seeing the number of a debt collector pop up on your caller ID can be a scary thing. When you are a single dad (father) or any single parents for that matter can it can be even scarier because you are only dealing with one income and you are on a limited budget. These people are trained in being persistent and doing their best to collect the money that is owed. So, it would be a good idea to know what to expect when your phone starts ringing and to make sure you understand what your rights are when they call you.

The first place to you will need to look to understand your right better is under the fair debt collection practices act. This will help give you a clearer picture of what is allowed and what is not allowed. This way if there are any sort of illegal tactics trying to be used on you, you will know to stand up for your rights.

If anyone is trying to collect any sort of debt from you, then you can ask for a written verification for your debt. This will be a telling sign because if they cannot produce this type of verification then they will not be able to contact you until they can. If you do happen to have some debt, always try to make sure that you are as honest as possible about your situation. Most debt collectors will try to work out some sort of arrangement for your payments if in fact your hardship is real and warranted.

Another thing you should try to do is ask for a settlement arrangement. It might still be a good financial decision for the debt collector to just try and settle the debt rather than let it linger over time. Always try to keep the lines of communication open to make sure that everyone can explore all options.

Just to reiterate, always get all agreements and arrangements in writing. Also, when your debt is paid off, get it in writing that there is no longer any debt. Having something in writing be the difference between being done with the debt or needing some financial help because no one has any proof of payment.

In closing, debt can be a very stressful situation and can provoke many emotions. Please do your best to keep your cool and not get over emotional about it. You do not want your kids seeing their single dad (father) or single parent yelling and crying at someone over the phone. There are many ways to get some debt advice and some financial assistance as long as you can keep your cool and always be honest about your financial situations.

For most people it seems like no matter what you do there is no way to save any money. When you are a single dad (father) or any single parents for that matter it may seem even harder than ever before. You have a family to worry about and there are plenty of other obligations to go around. Sometimes obligations can turn into a full on emergency that requires your time and your money. No matter which way you turn there is always your money that needs to be handed out.

One of the biggest hidden factors into where your money goes is what’s called emotional spending. What that is, is that when you are having a bad day you go and spend some of your finances on things that you may or may not need to help you feel better. Almost all of us have done something like this during the course of our lives but, there are some that continue to do it not matter what the cost.

Now if you are looking to try and provide yourself your own version of some financial help, please look at some of our tips listed in the paragraphs below.

One of the easiest ways to fall into the emotional spending hole is not avoiding temptations. If you know that some of the stores in your area have really high pressure sales people or they have a marketing technique that always seems to get to you then try to avoid shopping at the store until you can get your spending under control. If you can’t avoid these stores, try not to take your wallet or purse in with you and only take the money in for the things that you need. If you seem to always be leaning on your savings account, you should try and set up a service with the bank to where you have to be in the bank and physically sign for the money in order to withdraw it.

Try to start to be familiar with your emotions and notice the times when you start to feel like you need to go buy something to feel better. If you can recognize the signs, then you will be able to start to gain control of your habit.

Clearance racks are another way that little transactions can add up to a lot of money if it goes unchecked. It might seem like a good idea to always be looking through what is on clearance and what is on sale but, if you are not careful those little numbers add up to one big one.

You should treat your money saving adventure like a diet. If you starve yourself then you are not going to be healthy and you will end up cheating on your diet. The same goes with finances and how you should deal with them as well. You don’t leave any money for fun then you will end up cheating on your budget or financial plan and then what would be the point of all of this.

In conclusion, sometimes financial help or financial assistance can be something that you can give yourself. Once you learn about your emotional spending habits you will be able to gain control of this and make the best choices for you and for your family. Remember that even though you may be a single father (dad) or any single parent, you do not need to constantly be broke and have no control over your finances.

Debt can be a very stressful thing. It can also consume your whole life and think that can never be a way out of this. If you are a single father (dad) or any single parents it can make the situation even worse because you have a family that is counting on you. There are a lot of scams out there that try and prey on people with debt but, there are some instances where you can get some free money that is not a scam. It has helped a bunch of single parents get the financial help and/or the financial assistance they have needed to help get them some more secure financial footing. We have provided some examples of places that you can try and seek out some the financial assistance you have been in need of.

Rental Assistance is a good way to get some financial help for your lease agreement but, there are some requirements that you need to meet in order to qualify. Your local department of human services should have some information for you in order to get started. HUD and Section 8 housing are other examples of programs that can help you with your rent.
Utility companies have a fund available to help people in need of some financial assistance. It is set up for people whom are having a hard time paying for utilities but, just can’t catch up. These are usually a onetime only use though so make sure you understand the rules.
Depending on your local area, there may be some local aid groups that would be willing to help out a single dad (father) or a single parents looking for some financial help. These groups may be based out of a church or the VFW. They may be able to provide you with some financial assistance with your car, fuel, medical expenses, or other things that you might not be able to take care of without help.
Now this might not come as a shock but, one of the best ways for some free money is to go back to school. Single dads (fathers) or single parents can qualify for grants and scholarships. This might even be a way to end up with more money than it costs to pay for the classes so you can use the extra money to try and get ahead of your expenses.
You also have the option to get some assistance with food and clothing. It may not be cash in hand but, it can help you divert money that you would have spent on food and clothing and send it to some bills that may be overdue and some daycare expenses. Try and visit your local food banks and thrift stores to try and get the best prices for things. Angel food ministries can also be a great source for help.
Finally, if your debt amount is more than you can handle because of student loans or any other types of government funds, they may have some hardship assistance. Look into the guidelines of these programs to see if they exist. There could be a chance to get your entire debt written off but, keep in mind that you will take a huge hit on your credit for it. They may also have some payment plans or be able to defer your payments until you are on your feet again.

In closing, there are some free money opportunities put there that are not scams. You just have to be aware that scammers tend to prey on people whom are in need of financial help or financial assistance. They also try to target single fathers (dads) and single parents because they feel that single parents are preoccupied and therefore don’t read the fine print.

If you are a single dad (father) or any single parents for that matter, a budget can be the difference between you staying on top of your bills or quickly getting behind on your monthly expenses. Once you can create the balance between your bills and your life you might be able to sit down and relax for a brief moment.

Without failure though and no fault of your own, it can seem like your budget is not working. Payday could seem like it is a long way away and you have no food, gas is low, and the money you wanted to spend on some new work clothes and clothes for the kids has been diverted to other financial obligations. Now this issue may not be caused by the budget itself, it may be caused by the way that you as a single parent are shopping for your items.

Below we are going to give you three tips to use when trying to make your budget work for you and your family. This is not a complete list of things that you need to do but, it is some of the lesser know tips that you can use when working on your own budget and trying to give yourself some financial help.

Now unless you are living in a big city that has a excellent public transportation you are probably driving back and forth to work and taking the kids to whatever function that may need to get to on any given day. Now one of the byproducts of having to drive is that you need gas to make your vehicle get from place to place. One way to help you save some money is to try and always pay at the pump. It may not sound like much but, hear me out. When you go into the store to pay you might be tempted by some of the smells and sights inside. A small cup of coffee may not seem like much but, if you grab a coffee or soda every time you need to refill your car that stuff can add up quickly. If you can avoid these temptations you will notice that you have a little extra money in your bank account at the end of each month.

Now I will be the first to admit that I do not like to grocery shop at all. I used to just make a straight forward grocery list that had only essentials and for the most part it was pretty boring. Once I would get to the store I would throw a few extra treats in the cart that was not on the list because the list was so boring. Now every time I would do that I would wreck my own budget and then be scrambling to find money at the end of each month because I was spending money on items that I hadn’t planned for. So now, the best thing I can do is to add a couple of treats onto the list and therefore I can plan for them and there is no more end of the month scramble for cash. I know myself and my family is going to want some treats and so we plan for them rather than try to fit them in as an impulse purchase.

One final tip and probably the most important, is to write things down. You would be amazed at the amount of money that you can spend in a month and not even realize it. If you are not writing it down then these small little expenses can add up quickly and start creeping into your food and gas money.

To close, budgeting can be one of your best tools for financial help and financial assistance. Budgeting can be a very complex process but, the money savings for your family are worth it and can be very helpful for long term financial freedom.

The dentist is a place that all of us fear for many different reasons. As kids we feared it for the physical pain reasons but, as adults we fear them for the financial pain. Dental care is not something that is very inexpensive and there is no way to avoid it because we need to have good dental hygiene. If you are a single father (dad) or any single parent then dentist trips can set you back in the pocketbook and you know that you can’t avoid them because that is what is best for your kids. Don’t get fooled into thinking that just because your kids’ teeth are going to fall out, it doesn’t mean that they don’t need to visit a dentist.

A lack of quality dental insurance should not be a reason to stop you from going to the dentist. Doctors are now starting to link all sorts of different health problems to bad oral hygiene in your younger years. There are financial help and financial assistance programs out there if you are in need of help with paying for dental visits.

Clinical trials are good way to try and save some money on dental work. If you or a family member is having serious dental problems you may have an opportunity to get your help through federal funded clinical trials. There might be some prerequisites that you may have to meet but, it can be worth it to providing you some much needed financial help. If you are looking for a list of clinical trials available to you then go to clinicaltrials.gov for some further information.

Going to a dental school for some dental work is also an option that most people never consider. People may go to a university to receive some special treatment but, it never enters their mind that they might be able to go there for regular care as well. If you are living near a dental school then we would recommend looking into what types of programs that have available and might be able to get some care at a significantly reduced price. These students are closely monitored by licensed professionals so you don’t need to be worried about someone “experimenting’ on your or your kids.

As always, your local health department can be a valuable resource for you as a single dad (father) or any single parent for that matter. They can help you find programs that will help you get you a reduced cost or sometimes even free for any dental care that you or your family may need. Make sure to contact them and see what options they have available for you to get some financial assistance.

Hopefully you are now armed with enough knowledge to seek out the financial help or financial assistance that you are looking for. Being proactive with your dental health can help you become less of a health risk when you or your kids get older. Dentists’ offices don’t always have to be such a scary place.

Buying a car and obtaining an auto loan can make you feel like a victim of their loan rates rather than feel like a customer. You may feel like you have no influence or negotiation points to try and obtain the best deal. When you are a single dad (father) or any single parent you may feel like you are going to have to take what they will give you. What needs to be understood however is that you can have a choice in your rates and there are things that you can do to help change these rates to something favorable for you.

When you are a single parent, what can affect the rate of your loan?
Now we might as well start with the most important factor. Your credit rating is by far the most important factor when it comes to rates concerning auto loans. A good credit rating can be the difference of having some negotiation power and not having any at all. Typically, the higher the credit rating the lower the interest rate on the loan.

Make sure that you keep your eyes open for car dealerships to have holiday sales or end of the month style contests. When they have these types of deals going on prices are usually lowered to try and inflate sales numbers. If you can find an opportunity like that then, it is in your best interests to consider them if you are in the market for a new car.

One point that most people forget about is looking into different loan providers. You do not have to settle with the financing companies that are contracted or owned by the car dealerships. There are other companies out there that will offer you better rates or you can use those better rates as leverage. Just be careful with those other companies and make sure you go over everything in the contract. Sometimes you can get offered a lower interest rate but they include some closing costs with the loan therefore increasing the cost of the loan. Not all companies do this but, it is something to be aware of.

Down payments will have influence over the loan as well. They can help you get lower rates and it can also help shorten the life of the loan because you will be borrowing less. Any money that you can come up with for a down payment is better than no money at all and leaves you in a somewhat of a vulnerable place when trying to negotiate.

In closing, if you are a single father (dad) or any single parent for that matter, having reliable transportation can be very critical for providing for your family. As long as you plan ahead you can give yourself the financial assistance or financial help that anyone can use. Don’t let poor preplanning stop you from purchasing the auto loan that you need for you and your family.

If you are a single father (dad) or any single parent for that matter, life becomes about making good though out decisions for your family rather than just making quick rapid fire choices. This is extremely important when you are thinking about your financial future. Even though you may have tried to plan for everything in your finances, there may be situations as a single parent that you may not be able to plan for. If this is the case and you own something of very high value, you can take out an equity loan to try and fill the gap while you try to replan all of your finances.

One of the most common types of equity loans out there are home equity loans. How the equity of your home is determined it is the value of your property that is no longer owed to the lender. This could either be that the value of the home has increased since you first purchased it or it could be the amount that you have paid on the principal of your loan.

Part of the reason that home equity loans are very attractive and affordable is they can have a lower interest rate than your typical unsecured loan. There are some other costs with equity loans that you should be aware of. First of all your home equity loan will have the same types of fees that you saw when you had first gotten your mortgage like closing costs and what not. The fees may be rolled into the loan but, be aware and make sure you know that they exist and are ready for them.

As with anything else you are trying to purchase, we recommend that you shop around with a bunch of different lenders. As single parents we should know how to shop around for the lowest prices. So do your best to put your shopping skills to some use and start looking. Things to look for when shopping are what fees are included. The internet is a great place to compare lenders side by side, which will help make your search easier for you. Keep in mind that the lowest interest rate should not be your only deciding factor. A low interest rate will do you no good if the fees are tacked on and make the loan unaffordable.

To close, if you do decide to get a home equity loan, do your best to stay current with your payments. With an equity loan, there is collateral is involved and so if you don’t make your payments then you are putting that collateral at risk. As a single parent you do not want to put yourself or your family into that position. Try to consider all factors because this choice will be with you for a long time in your financial future and can be one of the best ways to get some much needed financial help or financial assistance.

If you look around the Country, credit is something that almost all of us need. It doesn’t matter if you are trying to secure a car loan, trying for a new mortgage, renting an apartment and now sometimes even applying for a job will require some type of credit history. Since all of your credit decisions are in your credit history it will cover all of your prior uses for your credit. If you are younger you may not have any credit history at all. This can be almost as damaging as having bad credit because you are considered a credit risk because of lack of history. If this applies to you, we recommend carefully building your credit and also trying to avoid some of the pitfalls that you can fall into. By avoiding these mistakes you will be able to build a strong and secure credit history.

Even if you do not have any credit yet, you should think about trying to procure a copy of your credit report from all of the credit bureaus to check and make sure everything is correct and none of the information is inaccurate. This is an excellent way to ensure that you have not become a victim of identity theft. The top three credit bureaus that exist are Equifax, Experian, and Trans Union. They can be contacted online, by phone and by traditional snail mail.

One of the easiest and first steps you should take to start building a credit is open a checking or savings account in your name. You may or may not already have one. If you do you are one step ahead in the credit building journey. Even if you only have one type of account like checking, you may want open a savings account also because on paper it will make you look financially stable. Savings accounts can also be used as collateral for some secured loans.

If it all possible, put as many bills as you can in your name. Bills like telephone and utilities are perfect for this. As long as you pay all of your bills on time then this can help improve your credit score. If you are able, put the bills in your name only.

Another step in this process is to try and obtain a credit card. You are probably inundated with credit card offers in your mailbox. Try to look through the offers and see if you can find one with very low interest rates and a low or nonexistent annual fee. One trap that you must not fall into is to not get more than one credit card. It is way too simple to obtain more than one card and just start running up the balances to the maximum amount. It also will look negatively on you if you open a bunch of accounts in a short period of time.

Another choice is to try and get someone to co-sign with you. What it means to have a co-signer is if that person has good credit, their good credit will spread to you because they are going to be jointly responsible for the money that you borrow. This can really help your credit in a positive way if you can make all of your payments on time and can pay off the debt. Keep in mind that with a co-signer you have a responsibility to them to make your payments on time because any misstep will have an impact on their credit as well as theirs.

As long as you are able to plan ahead, it can be somewhat painless to start building your credit the right way. If you get a credit card remember to keep the balance as low as possible and always make your payments on time. This should be used as a tool to establish and build credit; it shouldn’t be used as an extra bank account to spend money with. If you fall into that trap you may be on the fast track to seeking financial help or financial assistance. As long as you are patient and follow these guidelines you credit will start to look better to future potential lenders.
